Cataract surgery

Each unit and deanery offer a different experience for cataract surgery training. The National Training Survey 2015 included some specific questions about cataract surgery training that I have included below.

Q: With regard to cataract surgery: In your last 12 months of training how many, if any, operations have you part performed? (ST1 respondents only)

Q: With regard to cataract surgery: In your last 12 months of training how many, if any, complete operations have you carried out as main operator? (ST2-ST7 respondents)

Q: Considering the stage of your training, are you on course to be fully competent in cataract surgery, including the management of complications thereof, as the curriculum requires? (ST5-ST7 respondents)

Q: In this post, how good or poor is the surgical training in Cataract and Refractive surgery as related to the curriculum? (please choose 'Not applicable' for sub-specialties you are not undertaking)

Q: Please indicate how much you agree or disagree with the following statement. The number or complexity of cataract operations I have performed has been affected by non training units/organisations operating in my area.

Q: Have you got access to a Eyesi (virtual reality) Simulator?

Q: Have you got access to a wet lab (or microscope, phaco machine and mannequin head)?
